The Dispersion K 498 by Kremer Pigmente (also known as Plextol® D 498) is an aqueous dispersion of thermoplastic acrylic polymer, fully miscible with water. It dries to a transparent film of medium gloss and medium hardness.
Used as an economical binder for acrylic paints and pigments, as an additive in organosilicate paints, and as an acrylic adhesive in conservation and restoration work.
It has a slightly thicker consistency than comparable acrylic binders. It can be thinned with up to about 4 parts water before adhesion decreases; thinning makes the film more matt.
