Protein-based adhesive, consisting almost entirely of collagen, produced by grinding hides and other cartilaginous animal parts. It is water-soluble and has excellent adhesive properties. Solutions based on technical gelatine can be used on any water-wettable substrate and are reversible.

Technical gelatine has many applications: from surface preparation before gilding to woodworking and various "colletta"-type formulations for restoring wall paintings and paintings on canvas or wooden panels.
