Atagol Sodico: sodium salt of 4-chloro-3-methylphenol (p-chloro-m-cresol, PCMC-Na) of 99% purity, as white to pale yellow flakes. It protects aqueous solutions of natural adhesives from microbial spoilage at very low concentrations without affecting their properties.
- Dosage: usually 0.1–0.3% of the adhesive solution
- Properties: specific gravity 1.36 kg/l; pH 11 ± 0.5; water-soluble
- Uses: wheat/rice starch paste, animal glues and gelatines, casein, gum arabic, cellulose adhesives
