Funori is a natural polysaccharide extracted from Japanese red seaweed of the species Gloiopeltis. C.T.S. purifies funori in powder form, extracting the active substance, funoran, and filtering it to obtain a high-purity product. The final product is sold under the name Funoran Solution, at a concentration of 0.5% in water, with neutral pH, and can be used as a consolidant for paper materials or as a stabiliser for wall paintings.
The addition of a small percentage of isopropyl alcohol prevents microbiological growth.
