Funori is a natural polysaccharide extracted from red seaweed, used in Japan for several centuries. Today it is used mainly as a consolidant for weakened paper and depolymerised canvas, and as a stabiliser for powdering paint layers. Its minimal effect on colour is particularly valued, with a matt final result.
Although Funori is usually sold as dried seaweed, C.T.S. has chosen a particular type in the form of a very fine yellowish powder, characterised by a higher polysaccharide content than dried seaweed.
