Paraloid™ B-48N (Dow): a solid thermoplastic acrylic resin, a copolymer of methyl methacrylate and butyl acrylate, as clear beads. It is harder than B-72 and adheres very well to metal substrates.
- Tg: approx. 50 °C
- Solubility: acetone, ethyl acetate, toluene, xylene, ketone/aromatic mixtures; insoluble in water and alcohols
- Uses: protective lacquer for copper, brass and silver objects (usually 5–15%, often with added BTA), consolidant, reversible adhesive
