C.T.S. «mecca» varnishes: transparent coloured lacquers which, applied over silvering or tin/aluminium leaf, give the appearance of gold. The technique (meccatura) is found on post-Byzantine iconostases, templon screens, frames and wood carvings.
- Gialla (yellow): for a warm gold tone; Rossa (red): for a deeper, reddish gold or for mixing
- Uses: filling and retouching imitation gilding, reproducing traditional mecca finishes, glazes on metal leaf
