Kremer Pigmente sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (Na-CMC, CAS 9004-32-4), type C 6000. An anionic cellulose ether that swells and dissolves in cold and hot water, giving clear, viscous solutions with a neutral pH.
- Viscosity: high (approx. 6000 mPa·s in 2% solution)
- Solubility: water; insoluble in organic solvents
- Uses: adhesive for paper repairs and reinforcement, textile support, thickener for aqueous cleaning and desalination poultices, binder in painting pastes
- Typical concentrations: 1–3% as an adhesive, 3–5% as a gel
